Paulsen chases Azcona in the second Practice

The second free practice at Le Castellet took place in the late afternoon on a track that was drying after a pouring rain. Despite the changeable conditions of the tarmac, the Cupra cars of Mikel Azcona and Stian Paulsen were on top of the timesheet for most of the session, consistently improving their lap times.
Eventually, PCR Sport’s Azcona set the best time just like he had done in the previous session; his fastest lap was 1:17.921, three-an-half seconds slower than his best one in Practice 1. Paulsen was second fastest (1:18.757), with Dušan Borković third (2:19.183) in the Target Competition Hyundai i30 N. They were followed by Josh Files’ Honda Civic (2:19.470) and the M1RA Hyundai cars of Francisco Mora (2:19.680) and Dániel Nagy (1:20.043).
Jean-Karl Vernay in the Leopard Lukoil Team Audi RS3 LMS had clocked a 1:18.611 that would have placed him second, but it was disallowed by the Stewards for a track limit infringement.
Azcona’s teammate Danny Kroes was stuck in the pits with a possible brake failure and Stefano Comini completed only two laps in the Subaru before stopping with a fuel pressure problem.
Qualifying will start tomorrow at 10:00.
