A new scoring system for Qualifying

The TCR Europe scoring system has been partially changed for the 2022 season, when points will be awarded according to the results of both parts of the Qualifying session. The previous system awarded points to the first ten drivers classified in the Qualifying final results, from 10 points for the winner of the pole position to one point for the 10th classified.

In 2022, the first six drivers classified in Q1 will score 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 and 1 points respectively; then the first five drivers classified in Q2 will score 10, 7, 5, 4 and 3 points. The new points allocation should discourage strategies that aim for the tenth position in Q2 that secures the pole position on the reversed grid for Race 2. The points awarded in the races remain as they were: from 40 to 1, allocated to the first 15 drivers classified.

Another change to the Sporting Regulations concerns the number of results that can be retained for the standings. Unlike in 2021, when two scores had to be dropped, next year all the results will count.
