Files beats Vernay by 3 thousandths in Practice 2

After setting the fastest lap in the first Practice, Jean-Karl Vernay largely dominated the second session until the final three minutes, when Josh Files posted the fastest lap of 1:58.886 in the Hell Energy Racing KCMG Honda Civic, beating the Frenchman’s time by three thousandths of a second.
However, Vernay put in an impressive race simulation that showed a combination of top speed and consistency; the Leopard Lukoil Team Audi completed a sequence of very fast laps, the fastest was the 11th in 1:58.889 and the slowest 1:59.326.
Mikel Azcona placed his Cupra in third position (1:59.078) ahead of his rival in the title fight Dušan Borković (1:59.213), Maxime Potty (1:59.308), Kris Richard (1:59.526), Reece Barr (1:59.711), the young Argentine José Manuel Sapag (1:59.887), Dániel Nagy (1:59.987) and Fabrizio Giovanardi (1:59.991).
All the others remained above the 2-minute mark, with Stefano Comini struggling with the set-up of his Honda Civic lying in 25th position.
By the end of the session, Giovanardi locked up the rear brakes at the end of the pit straight and crashed his Alfa Romeo Giulietta at the entrance of the chicane; apparently the car suffered only from cosmetic damage.
Action will resume tomorrow morning at 11:45 with the Qualifying session.
