Le Castellet Qualifying – Quotes from the Paddock

John Filippi (fastest): “It was a pretty good session; we improved a lot between Q1 and Q2. I prefer to be the best in Q1 to have a new tyre, to feel what the peak of the tyres and car behaviour are like. The balance was quite good. After, I know the lap time of Q1, I had the target and did it – my lap time was good, but not perfect and I’m happy it was good enough to be Pole Position. Honestly, I expect a very difficult race, especially with my teammates, and the long run pace here is very, very hard for us so we don’t know. Pole position is something done, but I have to go for something more in the race.”

Tom Coronel (second): “It was a good one. I think I made a good Qualy lap, it was a solid time and I didn’t get any slipstream from other cars, I was completely alone so I’m very confident. On my fastest lap I made a small mistake. Okay, everything was fine and for the race it will be no problem. I’m happy we are there on pace; the top three was my goal coming into this session, and that’s exactly where we are.”

Kobe Pauwels(third): “Well, it was not so easy to be honest. Q1 was really easy on used tyres, we got easily through and we pushed until the final corner on new tyres to see what we could do, it was a really good lap, then we backed out at the final corner with an eye on the compensation weight for Monza. Then in Q2 there was a misunderstanding. It’s okay, we are P3 not where we should have been, but it’s okay and we will see during the race.”
