Peter Terting joins Autodis Racing by Piro Sports

Former WTCC race winner Peter Terting has joined Autodis Racing by Piro Sports for the remaining events of the 2018 TCR Europe Series. The German driver will replace Cedric Piro at the wheel of the team’s Hyundai i30 N TCR previously driven by Cedric Piro.
The 34-year-old Terting has amassed considerable experience in Touring Car racing, starting with the German title of the 2002 Volkswagen Lupo Cup that granted him the opportunity to compete in DTM the following year.
In 2004 he was vice-champion of the German SEAT León Cup, which earned him a place in the SEAT WTCC factory team; Terting scored one victory at Puebla in 2005 and finished three times on the podium in 2006.
In recent years he has been successful in the Nürburgring 24 Hours, claiming class wins and podium finishes.
He had his first experiences with TCR cars during the current season, first at the wheel of a Hyundai in the 24H Nürburgring where he finished second in the class and then driving an Audi RS3 LMS for Prosport Performance in the latest event of the ADAC TCR Germany at the Nürburgring.

“I’m very happy to return to international Touring Car competition after long time. After my participation with the Hyundai team in the 24H Nürburgring I have worked a lot to join TCR Europe with Piro Sports. It is always difficult to start in the middle of the season and we have completed only one test day so far. Let’s see what we can do!” Terting said.

“We needed a driver experienced in front-wheel drive and TCR racing to grow up as a team. Cedric was totally new to this kind of competition and would have taken a lot of time, coaching and funding to test between the races. At our first test with Peter, we got the feedback that only comes from an experienced driver. We are looking forward to Assen now!” said Team Manager Alex Graas.
