With two wins to his name, 21-year-old Jenson Brickley heads to Barcelona in a strong position for the title, just 11 points behind the leading duo.
He started the year with a victory at Portimão and followed it up with a Race 2 win at the Red Bull Ring. In fact, if not for a time penalty in Race 1—for his part in a five-car collision at the start—the British racer would be leading the standings.
After finishing third in his debut TCR UK season in 2023, and then second in TCR Spain last year, his trajectory looks promising for TCR Europe.
What does he need to do to win the title?
Just a single eighth-place finish would be enough to close the gap to the leading pair, Marco Butti and his own teammate Eric Gené, assuming they have a non-scoring weekend. Alternatively, securing pole position alone could bring him to within a single point by Friday morning if the top two don't qualify in the top six.
With championship swings of more than 11 points common throughout the year, this gap is perfectly manageable. Brickley just needs to ensure he has a stronger weekend than his rivals in Spain.
