The 2025 TCR Europe series concludes this weekend at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. A record grid of 27 cars is entered for the final round, with 12 drivers in mathematical contention for the title in the series' closest battle across its ten-year history.
Marco Butti and Eric Gené enter the weekend tied at the top of the standings. With 70 points available, a dozen drivers could theoretically be crowned the new champion, succeeding Franco Girolami. Realistically, however, the battle is concentrated among five drivers, with just 20 points separating Butti, Gené, Teddy Clairet, Jenson Brickley, and Jimmy Clairet. Butti, Gené, and both of the Clairet brothers have all led the standings at some point this season and will be looking to come out on top at the end of the final race on Saturday morning.
More battles, more excitement
As well as the drivers’ championship, the teams’ and young drivers’ championships are also too close to call. Monlau Motorsport leads Team Clairet Sport in the teams’ championship by just 18 points, while MM Motorsport is also in outside contention, thanks mostly to Butti’s high points haul throughout the season.
In the Young Best Trophy, Gené leads his teammate Brickley by 23 points. This title can also be won by six different drivers in Spain.
Different schedule, different presentation
The Barcelona weekend features a modified format for TCR Europe, with both qualifying and Race 1 taking place on Friday. The title decider is then scheduled for Saturday morning at 10:00 CEST.
In a first for the series, qualifying will be broadcast live. The event will be presented by experienced broadcaster Neil Cole, who will be on the grid and in the pit lane, providing instant reaction for what promises to be a thriller of a finale.
The champions will collect their trophies at the TCR Europe end-of-season awards on Saturday night in Barcelona. The drivers' champion will also secure a major prize: a full-season entry fee and 100 Kumho tyres towards the 2026 Kumho FIA TCR World Tour.
TCR TV
The season finale at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is available live with no geographic restrictions on YouTube. The coverage for the finale will be presented by experienced motorsport broadcaster Neil Cole, with commentary by Kumho FIA TCR World Tour's lead commentator Paul Jeffrey.
For the first time this season, qualifying will also be broadcast LIVE on TCR TV.
