A Honda 1-2 for Lloyd and Coronel in Practice 2

The Brutal Fish Racing Honda Civic Type-R of Daniel Lloyd set the fastest time in Free Practice 2 at Oschersleben, with the Boutsen-Ginion car of Tom Coronel making it a 1-2 for Honda in the session, which was interrupted twice by red flags.
After setting the fastest time in FP1, Santiago Urrutia picked up as he left off and was immediately quickest, with a lap time of 1:32.758. The news wasn’t all good for the WRT team, however, as Maxime Potty broke his Volkswagen’s radiator and had to nurse the car back to the pits. Shortly afterwards, the red flags came out for the first time when the Zengõ Motorsport CUPRA of Tamás Tenke stopped on track with broken steering and had to be recovered.
The session resumed with seventeen minutes left on the clock and a succession of drivers took it in turns to top the timesheet. Andreas Bäckman’s Hyundai (1:31.943) beat Urrutia’s time, but was soon eclipsed by the CUPRA of Alex Morgan (1:31.666) with Dominik Baumann – making his TCR debut for Target Competition – setting a best lap of 1:31.840.
With less than five minutes remaining, Gilles Magnus lapped in 1:31.810 but then went off on a slippery track while trying to improve his time, as did Luca Engstler who ended the session down in 22nd place.
As the clocked ticked steadily downwards, Tom Coronel set a time of 1:31.615 with Lloyd setting the best time of all with a 1:31.495. The session was then red-flagged a second time after Urrutia stopped on track after damaging the Audi and, with less than three minutes remaining, the decision was taken not to restart.

Lloyd said: “It’s been an eventful day, with the rain happening as well, so we were a bit unsure as to what was going on. We had a solid FP1 in P3, but to be honest we changed a lot on the car before session 2 and everything we did was a positive. I’m really, really happy being P1 but I know there’s more to improve for tomorrow. I’m sure everyone else will as well, because we’ve seen it before, but we’ve had very little running so far today and everything the Brutal Fish team has done has been really good so I’m very happy.”
The two-stage Qualifying session is scheduled to begin at 09:50 CET tomorrow morning. Race 1 is then at 13:40 CET, with Race 2 at 13:30 CET on Sunday. They will all be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com and www.tcr-series.tv.
