The system to establish the initial Balance of Performance of all TCR cars for the 2019 season has been changed. Unlike in previous years, only models subjected to new homologation will take part in a track test.
These models are the Hyundai Veloster N, Lynk&Co 03, Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce, LADA Vesta Sport and Renault Mégane. The test will take place on February 18th at Valencia’s Circuito Ricardo Tormo, where the cars’ performance will be compared to that of a homologated TCR model that will be named in due course.
The rest of the BoP process will consist of thorough static checks on all the TCR models.
Engine power, torque and boost pressure will be measured on the dynamometer bench at ORAL Engineering – located nearby Modena – in the first half of February; while downforce and drag will be evaluated in the Pininfarina wind tunnel at Grugliasco on January 28th and 29th.
The initial BoP must be adopted from the beginning of the season by all the series and championships regulated by the TCR Technical Regulations. According to on-track-performance, the BoP will be adjusted during the season by the common Compensation Weight System and the Sporting Regulations of each championship.
