The Diamond Trophy is the third of the TCR Europe series’ individual categories underneath the main championship, a class which celebrates the “gentleman drivers” of the series, but with the implosion of new talent recently, this class has become one of the least contested in the series.

With four Diamond Trophies held in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2024, the history of previous champions includes Stéphane Ventaja, Viktor Davidovski, Felipe Fernández, and last year’s winner Victor Fernández.

The category is open to any driver over 40 who hasn’t won a race, been in the top five of the overall standings, or recently been ranked in the top 50 of the Kumho TCR World Ranking.

That means that just reigning champion Victor Fernández, and TCR journeyman Sandro Pelatti, are eligible for the award this season.

So far this year, Pelatti has dominated the class, with six wins from eight races, and so enjoys a 92-point lead over Fernández.

This means it’s quite possible for the 58-year-old Pelatti to secure the 2026 TCR Europe Diamond Best Trophy at the upcoming race weekend at Monza, a whole race weekend early, even if he just finishes behind Fernández in every points-scoring session at his home circuit.

The Italian’s strong run in TCR Europe has been mirrored by his performances in TCR Italy, where he’s been a podium finisher and is third in the overall standings, and remains a contender for the competitive national series’ title.
