Having already announced that the young Hungarian driver Levente Losonczy will compete for Aggressive Team Italia in both the TCR Europe and TCR Italy championships this year, the Italian team has now revealed Losonczy’s teammates in both series.
For TCR Europe, Sweden’s Mikael Karlsson will join the team after competing in the Scandinavian Carrera Cup last season. Karlsson also has extensive experience in single-seaters, having contested his national Formula 3 series and then the Formula Renault Eurocup.
The 28-year-old Belgian driver Giovanni Scamardi, meanwhile, will drive the team’s second Hyundai Elantra N in the six events that make up the TCR Italy series.
Team Principal Mauro Guastamacchia said: “We are proud to able to offer ourselves as protagonists at the start of the 2023 season, confirming that our growth is continuing at full speed. Being present in two competitions such as TCR Europe and TCR Italy represents a great challenge from every point of view, but we believe we are ready and have acquired the right experience to be able to face the demanding calendar that awaits us in the best possible way. We are happy to have renewed the agreement with Levente, a young driver who is growing a lot with us, while at the same time we welcome Giovanni and Mikael to the team, convinced that they will be able to make a good contribution in terms of results.”
Mikael Karlsson added: “It will be difficult to predict where we will be able to position ourselves, but already after the two days of testing held at Misano I feel much more comfortable with the car and that makes me confident. The car performs well and the team is extremely professional; I’m happy with this opportunity with Aggressive Team Italia and I hope it can bring great satisfaction to both of us.”
