ALM Motorsport celebrate shock teams’ title victory in Barcelona

Neil Hudson

ALM Motorsport won their second teams’ championship in TCR Europe in the closing moments of the last race of the year, after points from Mike Halder and Ruben Volt allowed them to overhaul Monlau Motorsport.

The Estonian squad won the 2024 teams’ title in their first TCR Europe campaign after a strong season from Volt and then team-mate Ignacio Montenegro, finishing ahead of Monlau that year.

This year, PMA Motorsport led the teams’ standings for much of the season before Monlau moved ahead late on. A late charge from the Honda team then saw them take the title by just five points. Halder’s charge through the field proved critical after an early-race incident involving the two BRC Hyundais dropped him to the back of the order.

“It’s been a crazy ride,” said team manager Mattias Vahtel. “This season it was quite hard for us to get into a rhythm, and then at the end of the season we got into the rhythm and we’ve managed to win the championship.

“We were also almost the drivers’ champions, but we can be very proud of the teams’ title. All the drivers, the engineers and everyone involved has been working really hard and this is something we can celebrate.”
