Ruben Volt (winner): “That was hard. It was really, really hard. The first few laps we didn’t have the pace with the new tyres but after the tyres went away a little it became a little bit easier to drive and to carry the speed and the momentum forward. I think that for me it’s more about the luck! I’ve always had the speed but luck hasn’t been on my side, but now the last few races have been really really good with the pace and getting the job done,”
John Filippi (second): “That was good; no regrets because I didn’t win the race, because I needed the others to have some issues for me to have the first place. I did the maximum because to finish P2 when you start P7 here is really good because it’s very difficult to overtake. I overtook every driver in front of me until I got to Volt – he was really fast and he was constant every lap with no mistakes. Honestly, it was not possible for me to overtake him, so congrats to him for this race and congrats to Tom Coronel for the Championship. He deserved it, he did a very good season and he was very strong. I’ve known him for a very long time since I started in Touring Cars, and I’ve never seen him at this level. He was so easy every time and so strong in the car, he was very fast and so he deserves this. Kobe deserved more than this but`I think he has a very bright future in motor racing and I have a feeling he will do something very strong in the future.”
Viktor Andersson (third): “That was a really good result; it was an exciting race and entertaining behind the wheel. I started sixth and didn’t do the best first lap and I think I was down to eighth or ninth and then I just fought so hard, had good pace and made some good moves and finally I was up to P3. The first podium of the year feels really, really good.”
Tom Coronel (2023 TCR Europe Champion):“Not bad, huh? Not bad for a fifty-year old, grey and bald person! No, I’m so long in Touring Cars, I’ve been here since 2001, I’ve done all the championships like ETCR, WTCC, ETCC, WTCR and TCR Europe; whatever it was called it was always the same competition, it has always been the same cars, the same circuits, the same organisation. It’s great that I can finally win the championship but not just a privateer championship but the real European one. My last title was the Formula Nippon in Japan in 1999, so it’s great after 24 years to take a title back home!”
