Bartosz Groszek is looking at being back to touring car racing full-time in 2025 in the TCR Europe series, after a successful one-off outing at the Czech circuit of Brno, in which the 2022 TCR Eastern Europe champion secured a pair of fourth place finishes.
Groszek managed to battle with the TCR Europe front-runners throughout the weekend in his Aditis Racing Team-run Audi RS 3 LMS, and was all set for a podium finish in the second race until last lap contact with title contender Aurélien Comte cost him some positions.
Nevertheless, Groszek is happy with his performance and is looking for a switchback to front-wheel drive touring cars next year after having tried out one-make sports car racing this season.
“Up until the end it was very nice,” said Groszek. “We had very good pace, unfortunately at the start at Turn 4 in the second race I was blocked by (Levente) Losonczy, and (Ignacio) Montenegro just snuck down the inside.
“After the safety car we had the same pace as the Hondas in front of me and I was managing the gap to Comte, and then built more of a gap when Girolami caught him. Then Montenegro made a mistake up the hill and held me up a little bit and then Comte and Girolami came to me.
“I covered the inside, but I don’t know what happened. He thought I was in the other championship, and he was racing like it was the last race of the season, and unfortunately he robbed me of my podium but there’s nothing I can do about that.”
With the TCR Europe and TCR Eastern Europe fields combined, it was a competitive race weekend in Czechia, and Groszek is looking to return to the series next year with an expected uptick in entries for 2025.
“I really enjoyed this weekend in TCR Europe, and with 22 cars on the grid it was fun today. We’re looking to come back next year. We had planned to race this year but we changed to the Lamborghini, which was a mistake, so I think we’ll be back in TCR for next year.”
