Carl Boardley to make his TCR Europe debut at Monza

Neil Hudson

Two-time TCR UK champion Carl Boardley will complete the 2026 TCR Europe Touring Car Series season with ALM Motorsport, making his European motorsport debut at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza next weekend.

The driver from Ipswich, England, raced between 2018 and 2022 in the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC), before joining TCR UK in 2023, winning the championship in his first year ahead of future TCR Europe competitors Jenson Brickley and Alex Ley. In 2024, he successfully defended his title, with nine career victories in the series before taking a sabbatical in 2025.

Boardley then made his return to TCR UK for the first four events this year, and made the switch from the CUPRA Leon Competición TCR he raced previously to the Honda Civic Type R FL5 TCR with which he scored three podium finishes. He now becomes the fourth British driver on the grid in TCR Europe, as he teams up with Estonian squad ALM Motorsport, the 2024 teams' champions and current TCR UK championship-leading team, for the final two race weekends of the year.

As a former BTCC driver, Boardley becomes one of a small roster of racers from the leading tin-top championship to compete in TCR Europe, with his name now alongside Vincent Radermecker, Gabriele Tarquini, Tom Coronel, Matt Neal, Daniel Lloyd, and Ashley Sutton.

Monza will be Boardley's first race outside of the UK, and the aim is to build experience and prepare for a full campaign in 2027.

Carl Boardley:
"I'm massively looking forward to it, to be honest. My love for motorsport was rekindled in 2023 and 2024 on the grid in TCR UK, and I won both of those titles back to back. I sat out last year due to other commitments, and then got tempted back into touring cars this year, and for me it's going to be really exciting to race on a top class, world-level touring car grid.

"It'll be my first time racing outside of the UK, and I'm really looking forward to the challenge. Throughout my career I've jumped into lots of different things and have managed to get up to speed very quickly. I've never done things by halves, so if you're going to do something, you pick the most outrageously fast circuit on the calendar and go for it!"
