Competitive grid set for the first ever TCR Europe Cup this weekend

The first TCR Europe Cup gets underway this weekend at Circuit Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium, with a number of top drivers and teams set to take part in the new event, in which drivers can share their experience as they race the same car across two races.

The TCR Europe Cup is designed for drivers looking to make the step up to the TCR Europe series, but it's also an opportunity for teams and drivers to learn and experience two of the most popular and challenging tracks on the calendar, Circuit Spa-Francorchamps in Belgium this weekend, and the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya in Spain in September.

A number of high-profile teams have already been announced, with reigning TCR Europe champion Jenson Brickley getting his first competitive outing in the Honda Civic Type R FL5 TCR, sharing a car run by RC2 Racing Team with Venezuelan driver Sergio López, who returns behind the wheel of a TCR car for the first time in three years.

The Spanish team will also run a car for brothers Felipe and Víctor Fernández. Felipe Fernández has proven himself to be something of a Spa specialist, setting the qualifying lap record at the circuit last year, his second consecutive pole position at the iconic circuit in the Ardennes.

Squadra Martino will run a Honda Civic for Tiago Pernía, who will share the car with his father Leonel Pernía. Leonel Pernía is a four-time Argentinian touring car champion as well as the 2025 TCR South America series champion, and will also be competing at Spa-Francorchamps for the first time.

2025 TCR Europe drivers' and teams' champions Monlau Motorsport will run a car for Viktor Andersson. The Swedish driver will compete in both races by himself, gaining the maximum possible track time in what will be his third race weekend in three different series with the CUPRA Leon VZ TCR.

PMA Motorsport will run two different cars for the event with three different drivers. Former TCR Italy champions Nicolas Taylor and Nicola Baldan, who are team-mates in TCR Europe this year, will drive an Audi RS 3 LMS, sharing the car, their experience, and their data across the two races.

TCR journeyman Sandro Pelatti will be back with the team in his CUPRA Leon VZ TCR, competing in both races by himself.

Solite Indigo Racing have already been confirmed with a Hyundai Elantra N TCR for both Junesung and Junui Park.

BRC Racing Team will run a single Hyundai Elantra for current TCR Europe points leader Alex Ley, who will share the car with regular team-mate Gabriele Covini, who picked up his first career podium last time out at Mugello.

AIKOA Racing will also run a pair of Audi RS 3 LMSs, with the cars being driven by their regular drivers Giacomo Prandelli and Santiago Concepción, with Rubén Fernández also joining the team to share the car with his fellow Spaniard Concepción.

The final entry will be confirmed later in the week. Track activity starts on Friday with practice and the first qualifying session, with the second qualifying session and Race 1 on Saturday, with Race 2 on Sunday.
