Nicolas Baert is the first driver announced by Comtoyou Racing for its 2020 TCR Europe campaign. The 19-year-old Belgian, who is the son of former driver and Comtoyou Racing owner Jean-Michel Baert made his debut at the wheel of a TCR car at the 24H Portimão held recently.
He joins TCR Europe after graduating in single-seaters, having competed in the Spanish F.4 Championship last year. His Audi RS 3 LMS will sport a special livery in the TCR Europe, the winning design of an online competition.
Nicolas Baert commented: “I am anxious to start the season and this new experience. I have been testing the Audi RS 3 LMS on almost all the tracks we will be visiting this year and I feel perfectly comfortable with it and happy with my lap times. Coming from single-seaters, I clearly had to adjust my driving style and get familiar with a touring car, front-wheel drive and a completely different mass transfer, but the process went smoothly. My objectives for the season are to learn as much as possible and as fast as possible. I’d be happy if I can target Q2 and the points consistently and eventually finish in the top-5.”
