Following the earlier announcement that this morning’s Qualifying session had been cancelled due to thick fog, the TCR Europe Stewards have now released a decision about the formation of the grids for this weekend’s two races at the Nürburgring.
The decision confirms that “…due to exceptional circumstances, the grid for Race 1 is determined by the Classification ‘Free Practice best times’ which obtains the best time by each driver in Free Practice 1 or Free Practice 2. The grid for Race 2 is then determined by using the same principle as for Race 1, but reversing position 1-10.”
The decision means Tom Coronel will be on pole for Race 1 with Nicola Baldan alongside him on the front row of the grid. Josh Files will start tomorrow’s Race 2 from pole position with Mat’o Homola sharing the front row. The current leader of the Drivers’ Championship, Franco Girolami, will start Race 1 from P4 and Race 2 from P7. No Qualifying points will be awarded.
Depending on the weather, Race 1 is scheduled to start at 17.00 CEST this afternoon and will be streamed live on the TCR Europe social media pages and via the TCR Portal tcr-series.tv.
