Pierre-Yves Corthals is now only one step away from clinching the inaugural TCR Trophy Europe. The Belgian driver won the latest two rounds of the trophy at Zolder and Jerez de la Frontera that were run in the frame of TCR Benelux and TCR Portugal respectively.
DG Sport Compétition has entered Corthals’ Opel Astra in the ADAC TCR Germany finale that takes place this weekend at Hockenheim, which is also the final round of the TCR Trophy Europe.
Frédéric Caprasse, who shares the car with Corthals in the TCR Benelux series and is currently second in the TCR Trophy Europe’s standings will not race at Hockenheim, therefore the only competitor who might prevent ‘Pilou’ from clinching the title is Antti Buri of LMS Racing.
However the Finn, a regular competitor in the TCR German series, has only a very slim chance to overturn the situation. He has to fill a 20-point gap, meaning that he needs to win the Hockenheim event and hoping, at the same time, that Corthals does not finish higher than eighth.
Both races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.tv: Race 1 on Saturday at 14:40 and Race 2 on Sunday at 16:45.
