Target Competion has called Dominik Baumann to fill the spot left empty in TCR Europe by Dušan Borković for the rest of the season.
The young Austrian will sit in the team’s fifth Hyundai i30 N car alongside Mat’o Homola, Josh Files and the Bäckman siblings Jessica and Andreas.
The 26-year old Tyrolean is facing his first ever commitment to Touring Car competition and front-wheel drive racing cars. In fact, after the karting years and a couple of seasons in Formula cars, Baumann’s career focused on GT racing and with success.
His best achievements were the 2012 FIA GT and the 2016 Blancpain GT Series titles, both won at the wheel of Mercedes-AMG GT3 cars.
Baumann has also established himself as a race winner and a title contender in the ADAC GT Masters, the Nürburgring 24 Hours and the IMSA Sportscars Championship.
Baumann said: "I am looking forward to the challenge of racing for the first time in a TCR car. The decision for me was easy as Target Competition is one of the top teams in the category. The remaining Tracks are all well known to me and I hope I can support the team to win the Championship."
