Gilles Magnus (pole position): “This was just what I needed; to be on pole at home is really nice. I didn’t do any practice here and so it’s been a year since I last drove the circuit and it’s not the easiest track in the world, but we managed to improve in every session and we put it together in every sector to get pole. I would love to win Race 1, but we have to think about the Championship and not do stupid things. Even in Qualifying I was thinking about the Championship; if you go off at Raidillon like Briché or Files, it’s not good for the Championship or your self-confidence. I’ll attack with the aim of winning, but the points are what’s important.”
Santiago Urrutia (2nd): “It’s great for us, particularly for my team who has done a great job. Potty and Sutton are both really fast as well so we have all the three cars in the top four. Let’s see what we can do in the race; I hope I can do a good start, not like in Hockenheim. I think it will be a really good race, everyone is so fast, but I know we need to take points for the Championship. I’ve been practicing my starts so I’m not worried about it. I need the points and so I hope a podium is going to come to us. I’ve very happy for Gilles as well; I lost my tow when Potty spun, otherwise I would have been on pole, but we’re right there and this was the best Qualifying of the season so I’m really happy.”
Daniel Lloyd (under investigation, provisionally 3rd): “I’m extremely happy. We’ve had really good pace since yesterday and we worked hard on the car. We didn’t get a new tyre run yesterday and we were a little in the unknown, so it was all out today to put everything we learned yesterday into practice. The Audi cars are obviously mega quick here, but behind me there’s a big chunk of time to the next guy and so I’m really happy with my pace. We figured out the brake problem after FP1 and the difference was night and day. That was the problem at Hockenheim and so I’m confident we won’t have that problem for the races here.”
Maxime Potty (provisionally 4th): “I’m very happy, it’s a good place. It’s very good for me at my home event, also to have Gilles on pole, plus my teammate Santiago is in P2 and Ash is in P4 so it’s very good for the team as well. It will be tough in the races with all the other good drivers around me, but I think I have a good chance to finish on the podium in both races, like I did here last year.”
