Eric Gené took the lead of the championship in style, with a lights-to-flag performance a few hours after securing his first pole position in the TCR Europe series, and says he wishes all his wins would be as easy.
Gené was only briefly under pressure during the mid-phase of the race from Nicolas Taylor’s Audi, before he then pulled away and secured his first win and moved into the lead of the drivers’ standings, with former points leader Teddy Clairet finishing a distant 12th after qualifying in 16th.
“It was great, I hope all the races I win are this comfortable,” said Gené. “It was hard to manage though as I had a bit of tyre degradation, but it was easy in that we didn’t have to fight too much with Taylor or Butti. It was an interesting race for me, my first win in TCR Europe, so I’m really, really happy with the result.”
