Felipe Fernández was given a ten-second penalty for a delayed hearing for an incident in Race 1 with championship leader Nicolas Taylor, while Gabriele Covini received a penalty for his clash with Victor Chan in the second race today at the Hungaroring.
Fernández was found responsible for a clash with Taylor at Turn 2 on the second lap with Taylor. While Taylor recovered and eventually finished ahead of Fernández in the race, Fernández’s part in the incident still earned him a time penalty which will drop him to 16th, behind team-mate and brother Victor Fernández.
Covini meanwhile earned a penalty after he came together with Chan battling for the podium positions in Race 2. It was a reversal of the situation from Race 1, when Chan copped a time penalty for pushing Covini off at Turn 2 early on in the race. This time, the two drivers made contact at Turn 3, with Chan spinning across the track and just missed the chasing pack. Covini had finished the race in fifth, but his ten-second penalty drops him outside of the top ten.
