Last year’s winner of the TCR Ibérico and runner up in TCR Portugal, Francisco Abreu, will take part in the 2018 TCR Europe Series. The 23-year-old from Madeira will drive a Peugeot 308 TCR run by the Portugal-based Sports&You team.
Abreu switched to Touring Cars in 2016 and built himself a reputation by finishing the season as TCR Portugal vice-champion with two victories at the wheel of a SEAT León. Last year he drove a Volkswagen Golf GTI and scored three wins that helped him to clinch the TCR Ibérico title and finish second in TCR Portugal once agian.
Team principal José Pedro Fontes commented: “Francisco has been the logical choice. He’s one of the most promising Portuguese drivers and has experience with TCR. We are confident that together we form a strong team.”
