Franco Girolami has lost his third place in Race 2 at Brno, after it was concluded the Monlau Motorsport driver had overtaken behind the safety car which had been called at the end of lap one due to the crash between Petr Čížek and Žarko Knego.

Girolami has been given a five-second penalty, the same penalty his title rival Aurélien Comte had received for a last lap incident at Turn 9 with Bartosz Groszek, which puts Girolami down to ninth and behind Comte in the final result.

This means the revised championship standings see Girolami lead on 327 points, but is now only five points ahead of Comte going to the season finale at Valencia in three weeks’ time.

Ignacio Montenegro remains the only other driver in contention for the 2024 TCR Europe drivers’ title, 31 points adrift.
