Having already announced that Spanish teenager Isidro Callejas will compete in TCR Europe this year, Volcano Motorsport has now confirmed that Callejas will be joined by Evgenii Leonov and Klim Gavrilov in three CUPRA Leon Competición cars.
Mikel Azcona won the Drivers’ title in 2021 for the team, with Volcano Motorsport ending the season in third place in the Teams’ championship. Leonov finished in twentieth place in the overall Drivers’ standings, while Gavrilov switched to a Volcano-run CUPRA for the final round in Barcelona, in which he won the season's last race.
In a statement, Volcano Motorport said: “We are all very excited for the TCR Europe opener at Portimão, where we will fight for the Teams’ title as well as to keep the Drivers’ title in the team.”
According to the FIA World Motor Sports Council decision implemented from March 1st, both Gavrilov and Leonov will compete in an individual and neutral capacity as Neutral Drivers (ND).
Volcano Motorsport has also entered a fourth CUPRA car in the season-opening event at Portimão for Portuguese youngster Gustavo Moura Jr. who competes in the TCR Spain series for the team.
