Gavrilov switches to Volcano Motorsport CUPRA for Barcelona

Russian driver Klim Gavrilov has announced that he will switch from the VRC-Team Audi RS 3 LMS that he has campaigned in this year’s TCR Europe championship to a CUPRA Leon Competición run by Volcano Motorsport for the final TCR Europe event of the season in Barcelona.

The 21-year old from Saint Petersburg is currently in fifteenth place in the overall Drivers’ standings and fourth in the Junior class, with his best results being the fourth place he recorded in Race 2 at the Slovakiaring and a pair of sixth places at the Nürburgring.

Andrei Tkachenko, the Volcano Motorsport Team Manager commented: “After a full season with the Audi RS 3 LMS SEQ, Klim Gavrilov has decided to try out a new car kindly provided by Volcano Motorsport in cooperation with VRC-Team in the last race of the 2021 TCR Europe season in Barcelona this weekend.

“He is looking forward to the next season of TCR Europe in 2022 and wants to do it with a new car. The choice of the CUPRA is a logical one as Volcano Motorsport has several new CUPRA Leon Competición cars in our garage and have been very successful this season with Mikel Azcona and Evgenii Leonov, taking several victories and podiums in TCR Europe and TCR Italy.

“After two successful years in TCR racing, Volcano Motorsport has been looking for new challenges and wants to expand our driver line-up for TCR Europe in 2022. Klim Gavrilov is a very successful young Russian driver who will fit perfectly with 2018 TCR European Champion Mikel Azcona and 2020 TCR Spanish Champion Evgenii Leonov who are the current official drivers of Volcano Motorsport.”
