The next event of the TCR Europe series is just around the corner, with the championship returning to the Hockenheimring in Germany for the first time since 2019, with the two Audi-equipped brothers Teddy and Jimmy Clairet going into the weekend with a strong, but not impenetrable lead in the standings.

The Team Clairet Sport duo have had a strong start to the season, with both drivers picking up a win apiece in Portugal and Belgium, but after a competitive weekend at Spa-Francorchamps three weeks ago, Monlau Motorsport’s Eric Gené has closed up to third in the standings, leading a very close gaggle of contenders right behind him.

The TCR Europe series hasn’t raced in Germany since it held a double-header in the country in 2022, and hasn’t been to Hockenheim since three years prior, where that year’s title contenders Josh Files and Julien Briché won a race each.

Briché will be looking to score his first win of the season to add to his win tally, his last win coming five years ago at Monza, with the Frenchman joined by the two brothers Jean-Laurent and Pierre-Arnaud Navarro in JSB Compétition’s three Hyundai Elantra N TCRs.

Viktor Andersson goes into the weekend with the lead of the young drivers’ category, just ahead of Eric Gené, while the restyled Diamond Trophy for gentlemen drivers is led by Pierre-Arnaud Navarro after three class wins this season.

A new addition to the grid is outgoing Scandinavian touring car champion Mikael Karlsson, who will join Ruben Volt in one of ALM Motorsport’s two Honda CIvic Type R FL5 TCRs.

The weekend’s two practice sessions get underway at 9:10 and 13:15 CEST on Friday, with Qualifying at 09:10 CEST on Saturday morning ahead of Race 1 at 12:20 CEST in the afternoon.

The final race of the weekend takes place at 11:40 CEST on Sunday, with both races streamed on the TCR TV YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/@TCRTV.
