Mat'o Homola and Ignacio Montenegro led the way in the two free practice sessions held on Friday at the Autodromo Brno in Czechia, ahead of this afternoon's all-important qualifying session.
Homola topped the times in his Hyundai Janík Motorsport Elantra N TCR in the first session with a time of 2:12.852, just under three-tenths of a second clear of joint-TCR Europe series points leader Aurélien Comte's CUPRA, who was just ahead of his co-leader Franco Girolami in his Monlau Motorsport CUPRA.
Guest driver Bartosz Groszek was fourth, running in the Aditis Racing Audi RS 3 LMS, with TCR Eastern Europe regular and former TCR Europe driver Giacamo Ghermandi fifth, the best-placed of the Honda drivers.
In warmer conditions the times were slower in the afternoon session, which was led by leading rookie Ignacio Montenegro in his ALM Motorsport Honda Civic, with Comte and Girolami again hardly separated, setting the second and third fastest times.
Ghermandi was the top of the TCR Eastern Europe regulars in fourth position ahead of Adam Kout's Janík Hyundai.
Qualifying is the next session, and gets underway at 15:15 CEST.
