2024 TCR Europe title contender and rookies’ champion Ignacio Montenegro will make the move to the top tier of touring car competition, the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour, with the 20-year-old Argentinian announced today as a driver of a GOAT Racing Honda Civic Type R FL5 TCR.
The 2023 TCR South America champion joined the TCR Europe series last year with ALM Motorsport and was a contender for the title throughout, despite a sluggish start to the season, he picked up his first race win of the year in the rain at Spa-Francorchamps, and finishes on the podium five times on his way to third in the drivers’ championship.
The young JAS Motorsport Driver Development Programme racer also dominated the rookies’ category last year, taking 11 wins from 12 races, with only a technical issue in the final race depriving him of a clean sweep.
Montenegro progresses onto the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour after an incredible season in TCR Europe, and the series wishes him all the best in his 2025 programme.
The TCR Europe series is firmly establishing itself as the leading feeder category to the top tier of global touring car racing. This year, the series’ champion will receive a reward of 100 Kumho Ecsta race tyres to take with them into the 2026 Kumho FIA TCR World Tour season, as well the support of a full season entry fee.
