The reigning TCR Benelux champion Benjamin Lessennes will take part this weekend in the Monza event of the TCR Europe Series.
The 19-year old from Namur has joined the Autodis Racing by THX team to sit at the wheel of the Honda Civic Type R FK7 that has been driven by Loris Cencetti so far.
Lessennes switched from karting directly to Touring Car competition, emerging as one of the most promising young drivers in the TCR category.
He began competing in the 2016 TCR Benelux, driving a Honda Civic FK2 for the Boutsen Ginion Racing. He managed to score one race victory in his maiden season to be classified eight in the final standings.
In 2017 he was crowned TCR Benelux champion with five races won and made his international debut claiming an outstanding second place in the TCR International Series at Spa-Francorchamps in a race that was won by Stefano Comini who is now Lessennes’ teammate at Autodis Racing by THX.
Still with Boutsen Ginion Racing he has spent the first half of the current season in the WTCR – FIA World Touring Car Cup, driving a Civic FK7 supported by Honda Benelux. His best result was a fourth place at the Nürburgring.
