TCR UK race winner Lewis Brown has announced a full-season entry for the TCR Europe series in a Volcano Motorsport Audi RS 3 LMS. With Isaac Smith already having announced that he will enter the opening round of the series in Portimão, Brown’s announcement means that Volcano Motorsport will have two English drivers on the grid at the Autodromo do Algarve.
After winning Race 2 at Snetterton during the opening event of the 2023 TCR UK series, Brown lies in second place in the Drivers’ standings but will switch to TCR Europe for the rest of the series. Despite the fact that he is yet to drive the Audi, 24-year-old Brown feels that the similarities between his new car and the CUPRA Leon Competición in which he took his TCR UK victory mean he should adapt quite quickly when he takes to the track in Portugal.
Lewis Brown said: “Initially, my 2023 plans were to race in the TCR UK championship, however when the opportunity arose to join Volcano Motorsport in TCR Europe, I couldn’t turn it down! Isaac being in the team definitely helped with my decision to join Volcano. Having raced against him in other championships I know he's a quick driver, so together we should be able to get the Audi RS 3 LMS to the sharp end of the field.
“Volcano are a race-winning proven team, so I'll be in good hands for my first season in Europe. The step up to the European scene is going to be an extremely exciting one, especially with three rounds being part of the Kumho TCR World Tour. I’m ready and raring to go for this new challenge, and I can’t wait for some wheel-to-wheel battles with the best of the best!”
