Lloyd defends his points leadership in Spain

After Le Castellet, Zolder and Monza, the TCR Europe series moves to Spain, at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, for rounds 7 and 8.
The winner of the season’s first race, Daniel Lloyd (Brutal Fish Racing Team, Honda Civic Type R), proved fast and consistent so far, finishing twice second in the following events. He has built a leading margin of 32 points over the impressive Belgian rookie Nicolas Baert (Comtoyou Racing, Audi RS 3 LMS) who has claimed his maiden victory at Zolder. Third in the standings is Baert’s experienced teammate Mehdi Bennani with a gap of 48 points from the leader. The Moroccan is followed by Mike Halder (Profi Car Team Halder, Honda Civic Type R) and John Filippi (Target Competition, Hyundai i30 N) who are a further 3 and 9 points behind.
From the Spanish event, José Manuel Sapag joins Target Competition for the rest of the season. The 25-year old Argentine, a race winner in the competitive Argentine TC2000 championship, had planned to join earlier, but his plans were frustrated by the travel restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
The races will be streamed live at www.tcr-series.com: Saturday at 16:05 and Sunday at 13:55 (CEST).
