TCR Europe regulars Max Hart and Adam Shepherd enjoyed successful weekends in the TCR UK championship this weekend, with Shepherd enjoying a break from his TCR Europe programme to make a one-off appearance in the series, while a strong weekend for Hart saw the Irishman assume the lead of the championship.
Shepherd swapped his regular CUPRA Leon VZ TCR for an Audi RS 3 LMS, carrying the #1 on his car as the reigning champion, and put the car on pole position by just 0.007 seconds. Shepherd went on to win the first race of the weekend and moved clear as the driver with the most wins in the series.
The British driver then followed this up with a second-place finish in Race 2 from tenth on the grid, while a power issue saw him drop from the lead in Race 3 but was still able to salvage another podium with third.
Hart meanwhile had a strong run to third place in the first two races, while fifth in Race 3 was enough to ensure the Irish driver, competing his TCR Europe regular team ALM Motorsport, finished the weekend with a ten-point lead in the drivers’ championship with just three race meetings remaining
“We wanted to come here and get up the front. In Race 3 we probably could have won again without a small power issue as the car felt really good,” said Shepherd.
“Though we’ve been hit in the side a few times, so the car is carrying a bit of damage now which will need to be sorted out. I like driving in the UK, it was a good bit of fun here with no pressure, and huge thanks to Vannin Motorsport for having us. Now I’m looking forward to being back out again with Monlau Motorsport at Monza for TCR Europe.”
