Entering his second TCR Europe season, Maxime Potty will be driving a Volkswagen Golf GTI run by WRT Team.
“Competition will be fierce, but I am ready for the battle. We have prepared well in several days of testing that helped me to gain a better understanding of my Golf GTI. The atmosphere is perfect within the team and I approach the first meeting of the season with great confidence,” he said.
Last year, Potty had a difficult weekend at the Hungaroring, but this does not prevent him from enjoying the trip to Budapest. “It’s a great circuit for Touring Cars. In 2018, it was mainly the rain in Qualifying and incorrect settings that compromised our weekend. During the winter I had the opportunity to test on both dry and wet tracks. So, even if the weather will be changeable again, we should be up to the conditions.”
Eighth in TCR Europe last year, Potty aims for improving. “My goal is to fight for the top-three positions in the championship. To do that, I must be fast and consistent. I will attack as hard as I can, but perhaps sometimes it will be wiser sometimes to score points rather than taking risks.”
While TCR Europe is the priority, Potty will also be looking at the TCR Benelux title after he finished runner-up last year. “Winning that title would be a great bonus. If I score big points in TCR Europe, I will be placed well in the TCR Benelux and that would be a great reward for my partners, without whom I would not have been able to take on such a racing programme.”
