Michael Markussen will be the latest addition to the TCR Europe Touring Car Series grid when he makes his debut this weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, where he will race a fourth RC2 Racing Team Honda Civic Type R FL5 TCR for selected races.
The experienced Danish racing driver drove for the team in the TCR Spain championship last year, after five years racing at in home in the TCR Denmark series where he was a race winner in both.
Markussen will now make the move to TCR Europe, competing for RC2 Racing Team alongside the Fernández brothers Felipe and Víctor, as well as Hong Kong driver Victor Chan.
It will be Markussen's European series debut, as well as the first time he's tackled the incredible Spa-Francorchamps circuit.
Michael Markussen:
"I’m really looking forward to being on the grid in TCR Europe this year after a season with RC2 Racing Team in TCR Spain where I learned a lot from their huge experience.
"We're eager to enter the European TCR theater to test our speed against the most competitive field I have ever raced against. It will be a huge learning curve for me, especially as we're only doing selected races, and entering the series from the second race.
"Spa-Francorchamps is probably one of the most exciting tracks, and a big task for me to make my first TCR Europe race start there. I'm hugely excited for the upcoming weekend, to see my friends at RC2 again, and giving it my all."
