Mike Halder leads Nicola Baldan in the final practice session

Mike Halder set the best lap time of the day in the final practice session at Mugello, leading the way in his ALM Motorsport Honda ahead of Nicola Baldan’s Audi RS 3.

Halder led the way through much of the session, setting an early benchmark of 1:57, before improving to finish the session with a time of 1:55.061, set with just over ten minutes to go, which kept him four-tenths of a second clear of Baldan’s PMA Motorsport Audi.

Baldan had split the two ALM Motorsport Hondas of Halder and Ruben Volt with just three minutes to spare, with Volt finishing the session third, while behind him was the best-placed CUPRA of Adam Shepherd.

Fifth fastest in the session was Junesung Park, who had led the earlier session. Park’s Hyundai team-mate Junui Park had set a quick time early on but the time was deleted due to track limits, and Junui Park never set another flying lap in the session and ended up at the bottom of the time sheets.

Alex Ley, who was second fastest in the morning, failed to set a time as the BRC Racing Team worked on a mechanical issue with his car.

The next session is qualifying, which gets underway at 10:55 CET tomorrow morning.
