MM Motorsport announces Monza entry for Paolo Rocca

MM Motorsport has announced that it will enter its home round of TCR Europe with a Honda Civic Type R for Paolo Rocca. The 21-year-old is still in his first season in a TCR car, but is currently on the verge of clinching the Coppa Italia Turismo title after scoring five wins from eight races. In addition to his TCR Europe appearance at Monza, Rocca will also make his debut in TCR Italy at Vallelunga this weekend.

Rocca’s dream maiden season in a TCR car is a result of his participation in the MM Driving Academy, the development programme of the MM Motorsport team. The programme has seen the young Italian progress from karting to the TCR Honda and the logical next step is for him to move up the TCR pyramid.

“It’s a dream come true,” said Rocca. “I began the season as a rookie, and six months later I’m just one step away from clinching the title of the Coppa Italia Turismo and I am given the opportunity to measure myself with the best TCR drivers in Italy and Europe.

“I can’t wait to join my teammates Marco Iannotta and Carlo Tamburini and be part of TCR Italy’s very large grid at Vallelunga. The next week at Monza it will be even more emotional, racing at the Temple of Speed, my home circuit, in front of my family and friends. And on top of this, amongst my competitors there is my racing coach Franco Girolami. What a challenge!”
