Four drivers were given penalties after today’s second race at Monza, with three drivers’ race results today affected, while Covini will have to serve a grid penalty in Barcelona.

BRC Racing Team’s Gabriele Covini was given a three-place grid penalty after contact with the Monlau CUPRA Adam Shepherd on the final lap. Though the contact was initiated by Julien Briché’s Hyundai behind, the stewards ruled it was Covini’s attempt to overtake Shepherd instead of taking the shortcut which made him primarily responsible.

Briché was then handed a ten-second penalty for subsequent contact with Covini, spinning him around which meant he joined Shepherd’s CUPRA in the gravel trap, which was compounded by a five-second penalty for cutting the circuit which dropped him from fifth to outside of the points.

Junesung Park was given a five-second penalty for rejoining the track and forcing Tiago Pernía’s Honda onto the grass, which dropped him to 15th.
