Nicola Baldan’s third place reinstated after right-of-review hearing

Nicola Baldan has been reinstated to third place following a post-race investigation, after the PMA Motorsport team requested a right-of-review in respect of the Italian’s five-second time penalty.

Baldan had crossed the line in third, though with a late-race puncture slowing him down, a five-second time penalty caused him to drop behind the Hyundai of Junui Park in the final order.

The team filed a right-of-review with Baldan’s onboard camera as the new significant element. The camera helped demonstrate that Baldan was involved in a collision with Tiago Pernía’s car which forced him wide, and that he had in fact gained no lasting advantage as he was ahead of Pernía before the contact, and that Baldan had established his right to racing room before the collision.

The result means Baldan is promoted to third after his penalty was rescinded, and moves two points closer to points leader and team-mate Nicolas Taylor in the championship standings.

“It was a fantastic weekend. I'm super-happy with the performances I achieved," said Baldan. "All this thanks to the team, they’re a machine, they worked in a one direction, and it's incredible to come home first with two drivers. With my team-mate first in the standings, me second, and also first in the teams' standings. It's a dream that I hope to be able to pursue until the end of the season.”
