Isidro Callejas (fastest): “I am so proud of the job we have been doing since the very start of the season. It was an incredible lap: I managed to put everything into that one lap. Jack (Young) and I spent much of Qualifying running together for the tow, but it didn’t really work and so we decided to put Jack in my tow and I think that worked better for the two of us. It was a crazy lap, especially when you think I was towing him on my fastest lap! Races are different so you have to be full-focus, make a good start and push hard.”
Franco Girolami (2nd): “I have to say that everyone from PSS has done a really good job all weekend; second in FP1, first in FP2 and now second in Qualifying so I’m very grateful to all of them. Okay, I lost pole position by 0.03, but I want to send my congratulations to Callejas – he did a really, really good job. I know I have a very good opportunity to do well in Race 1, plus Azcona is behind me so this is very important for the Championship. We need to race and we know anything can happen, so I have to do 100%.”
Niels Langeveld (3rd): “The only unfortunate thing so far is that I missed out on pole position by such a small amount. To be honest, I can be happy but it’s a pity that the other drivers are not on the pace. Looking at things personally, finally I have a weekend which is going well from FP1 to Q2. In the past, I had several issues with the car but I know I am able to do it. Now the potential is coming out finally; I’m here to be the best, show the pace we have and to win. There’s always somewhere you can make or lose time and I thought I missed the potential of three-tenths in the second sector. I had a little bit more understeer in Q2; the balance of this car is important because it’s quite a long wheelbase, so you have to hit the sweet spot and every step we took so far was the right one.”
