The stewards have handed out a number of grid penalties following a series of collisions in the first race at Hockenheim, all for incidents which occurred at the corner which proved to be the activity centre of the race, the sharp right hander at Turn 6.
Teddy Clairet, who hit the rear of Nicolas Taylor’s rival Audi at the corner, losing Taylor a position while effectively ending Clairet’s own race, has been handed a five-place penalty for Race 2, where his provisional grid position was set to be 14th.
Santiago Concepción, who spun around Junui Park’s Hyundai at the same turn after the restart on lap five, was also given the same penalty, as was Jean-Laurent Navarro, whose contact with AIKOA Racing’s Filippo Barberi on the opening lap ended both drivers’ races.
Nicolas Taylor also got an in-race penalty for contact with Santiago Concepción’s Honda at the restart at Turn 2, which drops Taylor from eighth to 14th in the final result.
