Several penalties were handed out post-race for a number of transgressions during the first race at Spa-Francorchamps, in addition to a number of penalties which were already handed out for track limits violations in the race.
The best-placed offender was Ruben Volt, whose lightning start from eighth on the grid just as the lights went out was deemed to be a jump start after all. The Estonian was handed a 15-second penalty which dropped him to 12th in the final order.
Santiago Concepción picked up a smaller penalty as his false start didn’t gain him any time, but the five-second penalty dropped him to 11th in the final order, with Honda drivers Max Hart and Michael Markussen benefiting by being promoted into the top ten.
PMA Motorsport’s Nicola Baldan received a ten-second penalty for cutting the circuit at Les Combes and gaining a position during his fight with Victor Weyrich on lap three. However, with the overlap of penalties, Baldan still ended up in eighth position, though with the Hyundai of Junesung Park now ahead of him instead of the already penalised Volt.
Giacomo Prandelli lost his 14th-place finish and was demoted to 17th after receiving a penalty for also cutting the track at the exit of Les Combes and gaining a position on the CUPRA of Tom Chiappe. The final penalty was a time penalty for Victor Fernández for cutting the track at Raidillon, but as Fernández failed to finish the race, this had no effect on his result.
