Jean-Karl Vernay (1st): “P1 was the target and we were able to do it; it’s great to start from pole as it will help for sure in today’s race. There is a Peugeot right behind me and we know that the Peugeot always starts well so we’ll see how it goes at Turn 1. After that, we think we have the pace to win the race so let’s try to do a good job. We took five points from Qualifying so if we are able to win this afternoon we will take 30 points from the day. The plan is to be P4 or P5 after this weekend, maybe 15 or 20 points behind the leader, because the next weekend at the Hungaroring will be very difficult for us and so we have to take as many points as we can here.”
Maxime Potty (2nd): “P2 was the perfect lap for me; I’m half a second behind Jean-Karl but I’m very happy – it was a good performance. My two fastest laps were very similar which is also good. My aim is to finish in the top five in the race today, but Jean-Karl is a very good driver and he will be very difficult to beat here.”
Julien Briché (3rd): “For us, it was a good Qualifying as we ended it in third place. The goal was to go through to Q2 so we did that and we then managed to be P3 so we are very happy. For the race, we will see how it goes but we know the Peugeot starts well and so we will see where we are after the start and then try to manage the tyres. To finish on the podium would be a great result, but for now I’m just concentrating on finishing the race.”
