Ruben Volt celebrates first win of 2025 after a tough start to the year

Ruben Volt claimed his and the reigning teams’ champions ALM Motorsport’s first victory of the 2025 TCR Europe season in style at Misano on Saturday, leading the way ahead of the CUPRA of Jenson Brickley and managing the gap all the way to the finish, becoming the seventh different winner in the process.

The 19-year-old Estonian got a great launch off the line to lead comfortably into Turn 1, and though he was troubled by Brickley’s CUPRA in the early stages, he had enough pace in his Honda Civic Type R FL5 TCR to manage the pace for the rest of the race.

“We've been plagued by a problem with our car since Spa, we fixed it at the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour race in Valencia, and since then we’ve been on a roll with speed,” said Volt. “We put it together this weekend, and I just managed my tyres the whole race. Jenson was right behind me but I know this track and I know in dirty air there’s no grip in the fast corners.

“The first three laps it was sketchy as we had a really aggressive set-up and the car was all over the place, but after the initial grip of the tyres went away the car came alive again, and I managed to pull a bit of a gap."

Volt has now moved up to joint seventh in the standings after his points haul with pole and victory, and is in a close bunch of drivers from third to ninth separated by just 20 points.
