Ruben Volt hoping to fight for his first win of the season after hard-fought pole at Misano

Ruben Volt’s chasing his first win since Spa-Francorchamps over a year ago in the TCR Europe series, and could be set to extend the number of different winners to seven wins from seven races should he take victory today, after becoming the fourth different pole position winner of the season at Misano.

The Estonian has experience of the Misano track from his previous campaigns in  TCR Italy, but will have a close challenge coming today from Jacopo Cimenes, with the young Italian starting alongside him on the front row for Race 1.

"Since yesterday we've looked really good here, and I just needed to put the lap together and I did,” said Volt. “Luckily my first run in Q2 was enough, as I messed up my first sector on my second run, and I was lucky (Jacopo) Cimenes also didn't put a complete lap together as he was coming at us as well.

"In the race, Cimenes has experience here already from this year, and the CUPRAS off the line are really good, so I have to keep an eye out for them.

The race today takes place during the sunset, with the track conditions set to be much cooler than this morning’s qualifying session, which took place in 30 degree heat.

"Based on our experience from yesterday evening, the track was a lot faster than during the day, and it'll also be easier on the tyres which will help,” he added.
