Sandro Pelatti picked up a pair of victories in the Diamond Best Trophy at Mugello, his third and fourth wins in the category all in the nearby region around his homeland of Florence, after taking his first wins at Misano last year.

Driving a wild card entry for PMA Motorsport in a CUPRA Leon VZ TCR, with which he will compete with in this year’s TCR Italy championship, the Italian kept out of trouble and picked up a 15th and 14th place finish in the weekend’s two TCR Europe series races, which also secured him the Diamond class wins.

“I’m happy because unfortunately, I didn’t manage to complete even a single lap in qualifying, so I was starting last,” said Pelatti. “I had a good start and found myself battling with the people I should have been with during qualifying,”

“It was tough, but I climbed back up; I lost a few positions [at times], but I had fun. Anyway, I’m happy to have brought home two first-place finishes in the Diamond class."
