The last Scandinavian touring car champion, Mikael Karlsson, will join the grid this weekend at Hockenheim, driving for ALM Motorsport in one of the team's Honda Civic Type R FL5 TCRs alongside Ruben Volt.

Karlsson was the Scandinavian Touring Car champion last year, taking two wins on his way to the title in the series' final season, after returning to Sweden following a partial TCR Europe campaign in 2023 running with the Aggressive Team Italia squad.

This weekend will be Karlsson's fourth race weekend in TCR Europe, having raced at Portimao, Spa-Francorchamps, and the Hungaroring in 2023, with seventh his best result achieved on the final race of his campaign.

The 58-year-old won't be a new face to the Estonian ALM Motorsport team, as he already races with them in the McLaren Trophy Europe series this year.
