After a one-off appearance in the TCR Europe’s opening event at Le Castellet, at the wheel of the Top Run-built Subaru WRX STI, Stefano Comini will return to the series for the rest of the season.
From the next race meeting at Spa-Francorchamps, the 2015 and 2016 TCR International Series champion will be driving a brand new Honda Civic Type R FX7. The car will be entered under the banner Autodis Racing by THX, a joint-venture between Autodis one of the biggest car dealers in Luxembourg and the Belgian team THX Racing. The brand Autodis is already involved in TCR Europe, supporting the two cars run by Piro Sports for Cedric Piro and Loris Cencetti.
Marc Graas, CEO of Autodis explained: “In motor sports, just like in business, I’m always looking for the most professional people with the aim of achieving the best results. And I am confident that we will get great satisfactions out of this cooperation with THX Racing and Comini. And on top of this our young drivers Piro and Cencetti will benefit from Stefano’s experience.”
Comini added: “I’m over the moon, as this is the end of a nightmare that lasted from the end of the past season. Not having a drive when the season started was awful, but now I can relax and focus on racing. And with confidence, because I know that we have a competitive package. I wanted to drive the Honda since long time; finally this is happening and I hope I can stay with the brand in the future. I have a long list of people to thank: JAS Motorsport, Autodis Racing and THX Racing because they all believed in me and offered me this opportunity, but also the whole staff at Race Republic for working hard to make this happening. Now we hope to have a one-day test in Zolder before going to Spa.”
