Estonian driver Sten Dorian Piirimägi makes his TCR Europe race debut today and will start from ninth in Race 1, which will convert to second in Race 2 in his ALM Motorsport-run Honda Civic Type R, and says his plan is to stay out of trouble and enjoy his Spa weekend.
Piirimägi was able to improve on his second run in Q2 and made it up to ninth place, displacing Solite Indigo Racing’s Junui Park from the top ten and grabbed a front row spot for his first race weekend in the series for the reversed grid race.
“I’m definitely happy with qualifying,” he said. “The main thing for me this weekend is to build up confidence. In the two practices we had a different set-up and we lacked a bit of confidence with it, so to change the set-up and get a better balance for qualifying, I’ve been really happy with that.
“The main strategy will be to stay out of trouble for the weekend and just enjoy it. I’ve course we’ll try and get the best result possible, but we’re here for the fun of racing at Spa.”
